City Council

City Council determine policy legislatively. A City Manager is appointed by the Council to administer policy and manage the City's departments. As chief administrative officer, the City Manager appoints all city employees and is responsible for the activities of the departments as well as the successful completion of programs approved by the City Council. The City Council also appoints the City Attorney, who provides legal advice and counsel to the Mayor and City Council and to City Staff.

City Council meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 208 Ridley Avenue, LaGrange, Georgia.

Council work sessions are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the City Manager’s Third Floor Conference Room in City Hall located at 200 Ridley Avenue, LaGrange, Georgia.

Councilman Edmondson has served as a member of city council for the past seven years. Currently, he serves as chairman of Troup County Board of Health where he helps to provide leadership and oversight for the public health needs of the Greater Troup County Area.

Tom favors a bipartisan approach to City service, and wants to keep communication channels open with all citizens. He attempts to find creative solutions to current challenges and hopes to find ways to make LaGrange even more of a special place than it is now.

Current and future growth issues are high priorities for Mr. Woodson. He is monitoring closely issues associated with growth impacts to ensure the cost of development is properly addressed by the City. His role in development has been pivotal to the future of the community having served as a member of LaGrange Downtown Development Authority during its recent development program, the Tree Board.
