The Vehicle Maintenance Facility is an internal service division (administered under the City Manager) that supports the equipment and transportation needs of the city. The division is responsible for the maintenance and ongoing repair of roughly 650 vehicles and pieces of equipment, of which about half are rolling fleet. Equipment regularly serviced by the garage ranges from hand-held blowers up to an 826C Landfill Compactor.
To provide prompt maintenance services, the garage stocks a parts inventory valued at about $130,000.00. This inventory includes general parts, tires and tubes, and fuel and lubricants. The primary responsibilities of the garage include record keeping, outside servicing of equipment, welding and fabricating, central supply, and operation of the city’s central fuel station.
